Unrelenting (Devotional Acrostic Challenge)

Week 12 prompt – Destroying, Plague, Death Gods or Spirits

[For Apollon, who is the Destroyer.]

Unrepentant and unrestrained, is my Lord;
Never wavering and never faltering, is He.
Relentless is His pursuit, you will
Endure His wrath.  And as the
Last arrow pierces through, you will know true
Ecstasy; that which is unpleasant, can be understood as
Necessary.  What may be unkind, does
Tear down arbitrary walls of separation, freeing those
Imprisoned by falsehood, or by vanity.  Accept the
Nuance of His destruction; He means you no true harm, only
Glory, and your truest self as revealed, through pain.

Kindness (Devotional Acrostic Challenge)

Week 11 prompt – Fate or Trickster Gods or Spirits

[For Hermes, whom I trust more than most.]

Knowing more than we sometimes admit, our
Insecurities, though well guarded, are
No match for His wit.  Yet, He will not
Deride even our most shaded plots, for
Necessity is both teacher and companion.
Ease, however, is not the normal
State of our being.  But Hermes, who is crafty and kind,
Sees our plight, and helps us to act in our interests.

Wild Water (Devotional Acrostic Challenge)

Week 10 prompt – Seasonal or Elemental Gods or Spirits

[For Daphne.]

Wading and splashing, floating and swimming,
Ill-fated Daphne, knew not what would be;
Loving and laughing, leaping and running
Down the riverbank, she flew free;
Woe to that which the Moirai have spun,
An account of obsession called love;
Tis better to remember, so young and so tender, ‘fore
Eros struck with lead-tipped arrow, the naiad who was;
Resplendent and innocent, Apollon now sees– and He wants.

Farseeing (Devotional Acrostic Challenge)

Week 9 prompt – Mantic, Oracular, Divinatory Gods or Spirits

Fathomable time coils ’round Your
All-seeing eyes, O King, seated at the zenith of the Universe.
Rest You now, upon Your radiant throne, as
Scenes of all yet to come pass through Your awareness,
Ever steering Your hand, in the affair of ruling both the
Earthly world, and those of the Divine.  Zeus, whose
Insight is unparalleled, You do we lean upon,
Never doubting what futures You reveal on the horizon,
Guiding us in our works, our hearts, and in our very lives.
