My Tempest (Devotional Acrostic Challenge)

Week 8 prompt – Daemons, Familiars, Egregores

[For Tempest, the spirit of my violin.]

Movement after movement, we have
Yearned for our souls’
Twisted and amorous
Entanglement; we are a
Monument to that moment in time;
Pressed in frenzy, swirling in musical
Ecstasy, my Love; ours is the
Song of bittersweet longing,
Thrust into completeness, as the notes fade away

The Forge Born (Devotional Acrostic Challenge)

Week 7 prompt – Fire, Volcanic, Hearth Gods or Spirits

[For Hephaistos, whose works are many, and glorious.]

They looked at You, O Lord, and saw only weakness in the
Hobbled leg that was Your curse, and Your greatest gift.
Ever have the Gods loved beauty, and what could be so
Foreign to that concept than the limp that You so
Onerously carry Your pride upon.  They did not know what
Rugged strength it had supplied You, for the challenge was
Grasped in the true knowing of Oneself.  Through
Each and every step, You experience the
Bond between mortal and Divine, that which illuminates
Our similarities over our dissimilarities.  And for this You are
Renowned among men, whose hands build devices of pure elegance,
Nurturing the spirit of life lived fully, even as others look on, askance.

Loud Moaning (Devotional Acrostic Challenge)

Week 6 prompt – Water, Sea, Storm Gods or Spirits

[For my Lady, Amphitrite, Queen of the Sea.]

Lady ruling the wide seas, Queen whose will is reflected in
Ocean waves, glorious and beautiful are You, Amphitrite!
Undines sing Your praises, and men falter,
Desirous of calm waters preceding Your arrival; they are
Merely current in a long line
Of very hopeful
Admirers!  Blessed Queen, take their praises and offerings,
Now, deep under, where You dwell
In company with the other
Nereids, and be merry, for Your happiness
Gives pleasure to all the creatures of the sea, and land, alike!

Center of a Storm (Devotional Acrostic Challenge)

Week 5 prompt – Air, Wind, Life Giving Gods or Spirits

[Two weeks late with this one!  Playing catch up!]

Circling in the violent winds, Your ire rises and falls, yet we
Endure.  So clever are You, in Your destruction.
Never predictable, and often deadly, Your form reaches down– a
Tornado, like a Divine finger, sweeping away all in its path.  But
Even as You tear life and limb from us on Earth, inside all of that
Restlessness, exists a quiet center, a place for the
Opening of Self, which allows You,
For brief moments, to know our fear.  Yet this knowing does nothing to
Assuage Your appetite.  The center within fuels Your need to wipe clean
Stagnation in all its forms, You who purifies
Through destruction.  Telchinios, we know You, and as we proclaim
Our awe, we are careful not to draw Your attention, for there is
Risk involved, should Your curiosity lead You to notice our
Most hidden and precarious faults.

Dwelling in the Deep (Devotional Acrostic Challenge)

Week 4 prompt – Earth/Cave, Wilderness, Reclusive Gods or Spirits

Divine Mother, O cave dwelling Gaea,
Wellspring of life, and the knowledge of its
Eternal dance, come and attend these rites of
Love and joy upon the face of the
Living Earth, for You have promised us Your
Immeasurable blessings, that we may
Never want for the produce of the
Green Earth that is Your body, and our home
In all the ways that matter.  Be with us
Now, Your children, who lay fragrant offerings
To appeal to Your love of beauty, and the reward of
Honest labor, which, by Your grace, brings us food to
Eat and the very gifts we return in glad payment of such
Delightful wealth.  Know that we are always
Eager to hear Your voice roll through the deep,
Enlivening us with Your splendor, full and
Powerful, leading, as we sway like tall grass in the wind.
