Ode to Thirteen Goddesses ver. 2

Lovely Persephone, ruling over the hosts of Hades
You bring solace, both above and below
Assuaging the barrenness of Winter, Death and Time

Indomitable Rhea, in the face of all adversity You smile
For You are the Lioness, whose prowess is known
In the hearts of those who labor on

Shimmering Amphitrite, Lady resting upon the waves
Your gentle motions ease our hearts
While warning of the dangers of the deep
That we may honor the division of Land and Sea

Wild Artemis, running along rivers
Protectress and Huntress of beasts
We honor Your fierce glory
And stand awed by the might of Your Bow

Indelible Ariadne, Lover of Madness, Speaker of Truth
Your lessons are those we find within us
Of Will, and Wisdom, and love’s fickle moods

All-encompassing Gaea, O vastness of Earth
Who is at once Mother and Grandmother
Eternal Creatrix, we praise You
And embrace You at our end

Luminous Hekate, Light at the Crossroads
Tending the unwelcome spirits
Even these have purpose among Your retinue
As we hail them in passing

Compassionate Athena, Lady favoring strategy over brute force
We are the wheels You set in motion
And by our hands is the Divine Work done

Warlike Aphrodite, bane of hearts and Mistress of cruel Ares
You tempt even the strongest of mortals
And Yours is the triumph of procreation

Beloved Hestia, consumed in the flame of enlightenment
Yours is the way of the Unfettered Self
We are but fleeting in the face of Your truth

Illustrious Hera, Queen of Gods, tester of men
Your trials forge character and train resolve
For ego falls away, as Your gaze falls upon us

Resplendent Leto, She of Untamed Spirit
Woe be upon the boasters and fakers
Who with scornful tongues
Will know the peace of Your Offspring

Bountiful Demeter, by whose power Earth’s sustenance is grown
Your gentle hand did guide us in first planting
Thus laying the seeds of civilization for all humankind

Blessed are the Goddesses!  Hail these Magnificent Thirteen!

Lineage

Memory is like the Ocean;

Whole, even when divided into Seas.

Consciousness is like the Sky,

Settled over all things.

Flesh and bone– like clay

Molded over these dry stones,

While blood is like the flow of magma under ground.

We are made in Earth’s image;

The blessed fruit of Great-Mother Gaea’s lineage.

Week 4 prompt – Earth/Cave, Wilderness, Reclusive Gods or Spirits

Divine Mother, O cave dwelling Gaea,
Wellspring of life, and the knowledge of its
Eternal dance, come and attend these rites of
Love and joy upon the face of the
Living Earth, for You have promised us Your
Immeasurable blessings, that we may
Never want for the produce of the
Green Earth that is Your body, and our home
In all the ways that matter.  Be with us
Now, Your children, who lay fragrant offerings
To appeal to Your love of beauty, and the reward of
Honest labor, which, by Your grace, brings us food to
Eat and the very gifts we return in glad payment of such
Delightful wealth.  Know that we are always
Eager to hear Your voice roll through the deep,
Enlivening us with Your splendor, full and
Powerful, leading, as we sway like tall grass in the wind.

Gratitude Project 2017, Day 26 – Gaea

08/26/2017

Deep is Earth, who birthed, and still births, all life!  Round is She in the Heavens, and heavy with Her children!  Gaea, the Primordial Mother, so wild, never to be tamed!

Hail Mother, rich and moist!  We breathe in Your breath, and so, we live! Hail Mother, deep and green!  We eat of Your body, and so, we live!  Hail Mother, dangerous and impartial!  We are but players in Your game, and so, we survive!

Gaea, You are the soil, and we are the dust!  You are the mountain, and we make our home within You!  You are the flora, and the fauna, You are us, and You are our prey!

Earth, we are but shells of Your existence, bound to this flesh, and raised by Your power!  You are All Life, as we know it, and to You do we owe thanks and gratitude!

So, Dearest Mother, Great Gaea, Bountiful Earth, please accept these offerings, given back to You in love and reverence!  As do all things, these came from You, and to You do they return!  As did we!  As shall we all!

Gaea, our Mother, thank you for the gift that is life!  Thank you for the opportunity to live!  And thank you for the skills necessary to survive! You do, and shall always, have our most profound gratitude!
